Description In this episode of The Fighter Show, Flo takes on the toughest tests faced by German Air Force pilots at the Flugphysiologisches Trainingszentrum in Königsbrück, Germany.
The journey begins at Tactical Fighter Wing 74 in Neuburg, where Flo is fitted with full pilot gear before heading into the heart of flight physiology training.
First stop is the high-altitude chamber, a unique facility capable of simulating up to 80,000 ft.
Alongside young Air Force trainees, Flo is cut off from oxygen at 25,000 ft, experiencing hypoxia first-hand and attempting tasks like colour recognition while battling the effects, slowing reactions and creating confusion and mistakes that highlight just how critical oxygen is to survival in the cockpit.
Then comes the main challenge: the human centrifuge. Powered by over 7,500 horsepower, this giant arm pushes Flo’s body to extremes.
To earn his red card, he must survive 9G for 15 seconds - the same test every Eurofighter pilot must pass. With more than 750 kilograms of force pressing down on him, the question is simple: can he make it through?
From pilot training history that stretches back to 1961, including preparing Sigmund Jähn, the first German in space, to today’s Eurofighter crews, Königsbrück remains a proving ground for those who fly at the edge of human capability.
Watch now and experience the intensity for yourself.
