The Shareholders of the Eurofighter consortium have appointed Carlo Mancusi as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH as of 1 January 2022.
Carlo joins Eurofighter from Leonardo, where he has held a series of senior roles, most recently as Head of the Fighter Line of Business. There he was responsible for Eurofighter and Joint Strike Fighter programmes for the Leonardo Aircraft Division
His appointment follows Eurofighter’s three-year rotation policy. He succeeds Herman Claesen who was Eurofighter CEO from January 2019. Herman has returned to BAE Systems where he has been appointed Managing Director of the Future Combat Air Systems business.
Commenting on his appointment, Carlo said:
I am looking forward to joining and leading the Eurofighter programme. Herman and his team on the Eurofighter Board of Management, along with all colleagues in Eurofighter and its partner organisations, NETMA and customers have accomplished great things together. Now we must build on it.
In recent years the company has secured contracts around E-Scan radar development, the delivery of Quadriga standard aircraft for Germany and the next major capability enhancement contract in the shape of P3Ec are already secured. I am absolutely convinced that we have a bright future ahead with a 10-Year Plan in place and Long Term Evolution beginning to take shape.
Carlo started his career at Leonardo in 1981 following a Degree in Engineering from the Politecnico in Turin. He is joined on the Board of Management by Wolfgang Gammel, who is appointed Chief Operating Officer Programmes, and Andy Eddleston, who has been named Chief Operating Officer Capabilities. They link up with existing Board members Meinrad Pohl (Director Business Support), Peter Maute (Director Strategy and Marketing) and Gabriel Semelas (Chief Commercial and Financial Officer).
