Germany's One Team Approach a Winner

Based in Manching, Bavaria, the Eurofighter Kooperations Zelle (EKZ) is a ground-breaking collaboration between Airbus and the German Air Force (Luftwaffe). With around 200 people, the EKZ provides technical and logistical support for in-service Eurofighter combat aircraft. We discovered more about it from German Air Force Master Sergeant Chris Limpächer, an Avionic-Tester, and Airbus’ Christian Dotzauer, a crew chief and mechanic.

Ryan Lawton has had a 20-year career as a fighter pilot in the RAF and has more than 1400 flying hours on Eurofighter Typhoon in training, operations, as an instructor and as the 2017 Typhoon Display Pilot. The Praetorian Defensive Aids Sub-System (DASS) installed on the Eurofighter Typhoon provides protection against air-to-air and surface-to-air threats, by monitoring and proactively responding to the operational environment. It contains Electronic Support Measures, missile warning, on-board electronic counter measures and radar decoys to detect, evaluate and counter threats.
