Description
Exercise Cobra Warrior is the United Kingdom’s largest and most complex multinational air exercise — and this year, three Eurofighter Typhoon nations are taking part. In this episode, The Fighter Show opens the gates at RAF Waddington and RAF Coningsby to show how modern air forces train together for real-world missions. Exercise Director, Group Captain Paul Hanson, explains what makes Cobra Warrior one of the most advanced training events in Europe. He outlines how more than 50 aircraft from NATO nations integrate across land, sea and air domains, operating from multiple UK bases and over the vast training areas of the North Sea. The German Air Force detachment brings its Eurofighter Typhoons and a team of skilled engineers from Neuburg Air Base in Bavaria. Avionics specialists describe the challenges of maintaining the same high standards of service and reliability while deployed away from home base, ensuring each aircraft is mission-ready every day. At RAF Coningsby, the Italian Air Force Typhoon detachment adds another layer to the story. Italian pilots explain how they train and qualify weapons instructors in high-complexity, multi-domain missions. They also share insights from their role as the opposing ‘Red Air’ force, designed to push allied pilots to their limits in realistic combat scenarios. Filmed on location at Coningsby and Waddington, this episode captures the cooperation and precision that define modern NATO air operations. It shows how international crews learn from one another, strengthen interoperability and keep the Eurofighter Typhoon at the centre of Europe’s front-line defence.
